Holding Together

My heart is a little bit bent. it is a little bit crumpled, misshapen, worn out and tired. sometimes it is too full of emotions and too empty of sensible thought. and if i may, there are a few blemishes from having been trampled. walked on. thrown to the side. there are still remnants of makeshift ways i tried to stitch it back together. needle and thread, band-aids and glue that never seemed to hold. it is still tender to the touch from believing the wrong things and taking the wrong turns and trusting the wrong people. sometimes it startles even at the sound of something good. it beats too fast. it runs away instead of towards. it hides itself in anything that will lessen the pain for the moment. but oh has it ever loved deep into the ends of the earth. even with the edges worn and its chambers brittle.
